2015 | Personal Recap
I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say 2015 has been one of the greatest years in my 23 years. Also the busiest. Hands down the busiest. At the risk of sounding ridiculously cheesy, I have been so blessed this year and am just so in awe of what God has provided in 2015. I’m kinda sad to say goodbye to such an awesome year – it’ll be one that I remember fondly forever, but it also leaves me so excited to see what 2016 holds 🙂
I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and I wish you the happiest of New Years! 🙂
Early Winter 2015
Ben proposed on February 1st, and let me tell you – I did not make it easy on him! I was not having all that snow, had no desire to get out of the truck to look at whatever my uncle was trying to show me (I was just all sorts of generally cranky that day haha) but oh I’m so glad someone finally dragged me out there. Complete day turn around, let me tell ya! 🙂 He chose to pop the question on my uncle’s property (one of my favorite spots in all of Ohio) and I just loved how thoughtful he was in planning that out! And I’m so glad my uncle was there to get some pictures! I just love that one of Ben down on one knee laughing! 🙂
After that, wedding planning started pretty much instantly!
We had our save the date photos taken by the sweetest Holly Lynn Photography on a 9 degree day – so glad it was a quick session! Neither of us could feel our hands or faces by the end of it, but they turned out great and it was so worth it! (I couldn’t be a photographer without a photo on my save the date, now could I?!)
I flew out to California for my final spring break ever to visit family and wow was it a whirlwind of wedding related everything haha! My lovely maid of honor, Lauren, threw me a bridal shower out there for all my California friends and family and it was such a fun time! 🙂
In May, I graduated from THE Ohio State University! I’m so thankful for my time at such a wonderful school – I’m thankful for the degree I get to brag about and for all the experiences and people it introduced me to. I’m thankful for RealLife – OSU’s chapter of CRU for introducing me to Jesus, solid friendships, and through friends of friends on every different side of campus involved in such a huge organization – this guy named Ben. I’m already missing campus, but I’m not going to lie – it felt good to not start classes again in the fall! 😉
We got our first fur baby Zoe in what a lovingly refer to as my worst rash decision ever. She was abandoned by her mama in a flower bed and I had a facebook friend that found them but couldn’t keep them. And gosh were they the most precious things you’d ever seen. And she was finding them homes for free and so naturally I just had to have one. Teeny tiny kittens turn into mean cats, folks. But sometimes she cuddles and then I like her all over again!
We had our engagement photos taken by the ever so talented, KariMe Photography! We had such a blast spending the morning with Kari and her husband, Trevor – it totally made that 5:30 alarm clock worth it! (If you guys ever want to consider a sunrise photoshoot – DO IT. So worth it.) It finally felt like wedding planning was in full swing – we had 2 months left to get everything done and let me tell you, DIY weddings are so much work guys.
My mom flew me out to California one last time as a Musket to surprise my dad for Father’s Day; it was a quick trip, but we succeeded in surprising him and I loved having one last trip out there for the summer! And it wouldn’t be Father’s Day if we didn’t go to a baseball game, now would it!?
After weeks and weeks of nothing but eat, sleep, wedding prep – we finally made it! We got married on July 25 in Ben’s home town and had our reception at a family’s friends home – most gorgeous property and barn, y’all. I just want to live in it. It was such an awesome day – I don’t think I stopped smiling the entire day. We have such loving friends and family and I can’t thank them enough for all the work they did to help us finish up and set up. It was such a gorgeous day and we’ll treasure memories from it forever. And wooooooo we’re married!!! I’m loving living life with this guy 🙂 PS – I’m planning on getting a blog post up of my favorite wedding photos on our 6 month anniversary (monthiversary?)
We honeymooned at Disney World – and it was the bomb dot com. I’d only ever been to Disneyland, being a California native, but Disney World was just kinda like Disneyland on steroids, haha. It was huge! And the whole multiple park thing was awesome 🙂 I loved EPCOT, although I’m pretty sure we just ate our weight in teriyaki chicken, pizza, and ice cream. And oh, if you haven’t heard the story about our infamous rental car, remind me to tell you next time I see you. It’s pure comedy.
We went out to California in October for a our wedding reception with all our California family and friends. My mom and aunt planned it all (still so thankful I didn’t have to plan another one haha!) and it was so gorgeous! It was at Concannon Vineyards and it was just very Northern California haha! I loved it! I loved seeing everyone I grew up with and we felt so loved and so blessed to have so many people to celebrate with!
We got our second fur baby, Copper, in November! We rescued him from a rescue organization out of Logan, Ohio where he was found as a stray. He’s the most loving dog (he thinks he’s a giant lap dog) and so so sweet. Pretty sure we picked a good one 🙂
My parents came out for a weekend in December to see us before Christmas. This was my first year not being home for Christmas, so it was so nice to be able to at least see them and do Christmasy things with them around the holiday. And did I mention it was like 70 degrees the weekend they were here?! We explored German Village, went to the Zoo – all with light jackets. Crazy. Good crazy. Can all of winter be like this?!
We spent our first Christmas together! 🙂 That was pretty cool 🙂 I feel so officially married now haha!
