Blue Ridge Mountains, VA | Bricker Travelogue
FINALLY getting around to blogging these photos and actually ordering prints of a few!
This trip was such a spur of the moment plan – we had the weekend around our anniversary off, so we figured we’d make the most of it! I’d been wanting to visit the Blue Ridge Mountains for a while, and since it was in driving distance, we were able to make just a long weekend trip down and it was such a fun break from real life. We stayed in a cute cabin Airbnb in Blacksburg, VA and it was surrounded by multiple horse farms – so you know I was all about that.
On our first morning, we got up bright and early and headed to the north end of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Charlottesville for an engagement session for one of my sweet 2018 couples! It was such a fun and gorgeous session and totally worth it. I love getting to photograph people in new places! I would’ve loved to spend more time in Charlottesville – there was just so much history there! We went to UVA and James Monroe’s Highland – but there’s so much, we barely scratched the surface. Maybe next time 😉 That afternoon, we went back to our Airbnb for a nap and then hit downtown Blacksburg for dinner (and ended up just getting take out and fro yo haha!)
Sunday, we brunched in Roanoke – it was such a cute little town! Ben enjoyed the little vintage car show across from our restaurant, naturally haha. From there, we drove a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway – which might have been Ben’s favorite part haha – and made it back to Blacksburg for a session swap with Rachel Wells Photography! A few of my favorites from our anniversary session with her are at the end of this post 🙂 Thanks again, girl! We love ’em! 🙂
Monday we finally did a little bit of hiking before heading home! We stopped at a cute berry farm in the morning and then did a hike that ended up at a waterfall and natural swimming hole. It was such a pretty hike and an even prettier destination!
Virginia, we’ll be back for you and all your nature and history goodness.
