Boston, MA | Bricker Travelogue
Ben & I took a spontaneous trip to Boston earlier this month, and it was such a fun time! Sometimes I just get the urge to go do something outside of the same ol' routine, so I was just looking around on Google Flights back in September and found $100 roundtrip tickets to Boston! It's a city that's been on my bucket list, so I figured, why not?! I bought the tickets and we flew out there on a Friday afternoon and flew back to Cleveland at 10:30am on that Sunday. It was such a whirlwind of a weekend, but it was so much fun.
We stayed in the cutest airbnb in Hingham - MA, about 40 minutes south of Boston. We ate at the original Wahlburgers restaurant there our first night, which was kind of a fun experience. On Saturday morning, we got going super early to make sure we could get enough done in the short amount of daylight we have now! We stopped at John Adam's Peacefield on the way to Boston, and then drove on into the city. Our main itinerary was to walk the Freedom Trail so we could see most of the city and a lot of historical sites. We did the first half of the Trail with a tour guide, and then finished the second half on our own. I'm so thankful we had sunny, 50 degree weather - I wasn't sure what we'd get in November, but we definitely lucked out. When we finished the trail, we went back to Boston Common and walked around the neighborhoods and park there. At sunset, we hopped in the car to head north to Salem (though I didn't get anything other than iPhone pictures since we didn't arrive there until after dark.) It was fun to see all the Hocus Pocus filming locations ha!
On Sunday morning, we got up before sunrise to hike at World's End in Hingham. It was an overcast day, but we could still see the Boston skyline! It was a quick hike since we had to make it back to Boston by 8:30 for our flight, but it was so worth it. Also not pictured - grabbing donuts at the original Dunkin' Donuts. No shame.
I loved our quick, whirlwind of a trip and would love to visit again with a little more time on our hands :) I know we only made a dent in all the city and surrounding towns have to offer, but it was just the thing to break out of the mundane and get the creative juices flowing again.
